Not everybody has been able to get along with the Amazon Kindle because it is so small. This was one of many reasons why the Amazon Kindle DX was released. This is larger than the original Kindle but still does everything else that a user wants from the Kindle.

The Amazon Kindle DX has a larger screen than its predecessor and most other E-readers, which can make it more comfortable for many users. The DX was also the first to come out with a slate grey cover, which works better with the screen color. The writing tends to stand out more than on other version of the Kindle.
It is expensive for an E-reader but there are a lot of other capabilities that the DX has, including the ability to use the Internet. This means that you can download more books while on the move. The hard drive space is also better than many other types of E-readers.
The Reviews
It is important to consider all the pros and cons of using the Amazon Kindle DX to work out whether you should opt for this or look at another E-reader out on the market. It will also help you decide whether the DX is worth your money or whether you would prefer the smaller version.
The size is a positive aspect of the DX as it is better for many people who have vision problems. The larger buttons and screen make it easier for many people to use, especially college students who are trying to add notes to their text books.
The whole idea behind the Kindle is great and the fact that the DX has a larger storage space means that it is possible to store around 3,500 books. It will be difficult to use up the whole storage and be able to read all of the books on there.

It is possible to read with one hand since the page turn buttons are still on the side of the DX. However, the size could limit the chances of reading on handed for a long period of time; this will all depend on your preferences for using the Kindle.
The back of the DX is made of a soft aluminum. This is easier to grip than the original types of Kindles but it is still not 100 percent comfortable. There are now a number of other styles out there that offer more comfort. Of course, the DX is due an update which could fix this comfort problem.
The screen resolution on the DX is crisp and obviously the design that was followed when the latest Kindle was made. The writing is sharp and stands out from the page. The refresh rate is also excellent, which is partially due to the extra space available on the Amazon Kindle DX.
It is also possible to highlight words and write text to make notes, making it a great companion for students. It is also possible to access the dictionary while reading. If you do not understand a word, you can highlight it and the meanings will pop up. Before, you had to go out of the book and into the dictionary to find the meaning of the words.
A common problem found with the Amazon Kindle DX is something that comes from the original type of Kindle. The sensor is far too sensitive and just the slightest adjustment will have the book switching from profile to landscape. This can be extremely annoying and can have many people switching for the paper version of the book.
The battery life is not as long as the smaller Kindles. With the wireless constantly off, you could get around two weeks of use. However, the wireless will need to be turned on to be able to save the page that you were one when reading. You will get around one week of continuous use. Another problem is that the battery can take hours to charge; the Kindle 2 only takes an hour to fully charge and can offer two weeks of continuous use with the wireless on.

The size also has a few negative points to it. For some, it is just too big. It is around double the weight of the Kindle 2 and definitely double the size. This is great for students but cuts out the ability to use it one handed. It can also get tiring to hold all of the time; however, you do need to compare this with holding a hard back book or a textbook.
The cost of the Amazon Kindle DX is high and with the negative aspects of it, it may not be completely worth the money. This is something that only you can decide on and whether you are happy to spend the extra money.
In Conclusion
The Amazon Kindle DX is something that has been designed more for students and those who struggle to read with the smaller Kindle. However, the price is extremely high and may be out of a student’s range. This is something that needs to be considered carefully, especially when students will already have laptops, which they can download textbooks onto.
However, before the newer version of the Kindle, the DX was the best for being able to read the words. The sensor is extremely sensitive, however, so if you do a lot of fidgeting then this is not for you. It is also a lot heavier than the smaller version and cannot be used with one hand. However, you do need to question whether you would read a normal book one handed.
